My parents would tell you I’ve always been a “health nut,” which is likely the result of visiting a nutritionist for low blood sugar headaches and fatigue at the ripe old age of 8.

So while other kids read Judy Blume, I was nuzzled into my Food Bible, learning about how the vitamin E in almonds is good for your skin.

I carried my love of science and how the body works to the University of Michigan, for my bachelors in biology and then returned to school a few years later for a masters in dietetics and nutrition. After a short stint exploring medical school and a health crisis of my own, I found my calling in Integrative and Functional Nutrition, where the true healing takes place.

From manipulating the DNA of viruses as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health, to creating and running a nutrition practice at a community health clinic, to heading up the nutrition curriculum for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and working side-by-side with the TODAY Show health and nutrition expert, Joy Bauer, creating and launching a healthy snack company… I’d say it’s been a pretty awesome ride so far.

I love finding the place where science, holistic health, and real life meet. And in terms of nutrition, I’ve dabbled a little in every philosophy (from raw vegan to paleo). I enjoy empowering others to discover their optimal food and lifestyle plan. We’re all different. Together we’ll get to your root causes and help you take back your health.

When I’m not playing nutrition detective, I love cooking, running, and biking with my husband and three kids.
