My parents would tell you I’ve always been a “health nut,” which is likely the result of visiting a nutritionist for low blood sugar headaches and fatigue at the ripe old age of 8.
So while other kids read Judy Blume, I was nuzzled into my Food Bible, learning about how the vitamin E in almonds is good for your skin.
I carried my love of science and how the body works to the University of Michigan, for my bachelors in biology and then returned to school a few years later for a masters in dietetics and nutrition.
From manipulating the DNA of viruses as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health, to creating and running a nutrition practice at a community health clinic, to heading up the nutrition curriculum for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and working side-by-side with the TODAY Show health and nutrition expert, Joy Bauer, creating and launching a healthy snack company… I’d say it’s been a pretty awesome ride so far.
I love finding the place where science, holistic health, and real life meet. And in terms of nutrition, I’ve dabbled a little in every philosophy. I enjoy empowering others to discover their best eating habits. We’re all different, so I take a personal approach to helping my clients craft their healthy diet.
I recently moved from Brooklyn, New York to the Bay Area in California, where I’m completely spoiled with great food, great weather, and great weekend getaways! I’m the smitten wife of my way better half, Javier, and the lucky mother of three beautiful kiddos, Joaquin, Miguel and baby Simone (we have yet to update our family photo, so stay tuned lol).
